GigPenguin vs Gigwell

Updated

The short answer: Gigwell and GigPenguin solve different problems. Gigwell is booking software for agencies, artists and venues: offers, contracts, deposits, itineraries. GigPenguin starts after the gig is booked, when the bandleader has to get a band onto it. Some bandleaders could use both.

What Gigwell is for

Gigwell calls itself an end-to-end booking management platform. An agency uses it to send offers, generate contracts with e-signatures, collect deposits, build itineraries and report on its roster's business. Artists get an app with their itineraries. Add-ons include Tour IQ, a database of venues and talent buyers, and ticket-sales analytics. If you book shows for several artists, it's built for you.

What GigPenguin is for

GigPenguin is for the bandleader who has the gig and now needs a drummer, a bassist and two horns on it. You write the gig sheet once and pick who plays each seat. Each band member gets their own text or email and answers with a tap, and they don't need an app or an account. You see who's opened it and who's in, reminders go out each morning to anyone who hasn't answered, and when the plan changes everyone is told and you can see who read it.

Which do you need?

  • You're an agency or an artist's team booking shows: Gigwell, or another booking platform.
  • You lead the band and hire the players: GigPenguin.
  • You do both: they don't overlap much, so using both is reasonable.

What we say about Gigwell comes from its own website (www.gigwell.com/, www.gigwell.com/pricing), checked on October 11, 2026. Prices and features change; check theirs before you decide. Spotted something out of date? Email support@gigpenguin.com and we'll fix it.
